Built
in 1913, the 150 foot high Colorado Street Bridge
spans the Arroyo Seco, connecting Pasadena to
Glendale and the San Fernando Valley.
Purported to once have been a favorite spot
for the despondent during the depression, The
Colorado Street Bridge is better known as "Suicide
Bridge".
In the 1980's the bridge fell into disrepair
and pieces of concrete fell from its Beaux Arts
arches. Following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake,
the bridge was closed as a precaution. The bridge
underwent a $27 million renovation and reopened
in 1993.
